LOOP PERFECTS EXPORT OPERATIONS

Covington, Louisiana, November 21, 2018

In response to multiple inquiries, LOOP confirms its deepwater port loading capabilities are able to meet market demand after successfully loading multiple VLCC’s for export during 2018.

LOOP, as the nation’s only deepwater port, is constructed specifically for the safe and efficient handling of VLCC’s (Very Large Crude Carriers), and began export operations in February 2018.

Since the Crimson/MPLX announcement of the Swordfish pipeline reversal, LOOP reports customer requests concerning its deepwater port export capabilities have skyrocketed, said Wade Tornyos, Public Information Officer.

Projected inland crude flow increases will tap LOOP’s flexibility and capacity to stage and load large volumes of crude oil.  Crude oil arrives at LOOP’s Clovelly Hub from several domestic sources, including Deepwater Gulf of Mexico production, U.S. mid-continent production on the Zydeco pipeline system and newly proposed, from St. James on the existing and repurposed Swordfish system.

The Clovelly Hub offers a unique suite of services utilizing its already-built infrastructure.  The number of vessels loaded can be scaled to meet increasing market demand with the utmost efficiency and environmental care.
