Port Information

The Louisiana Offshore Oil Port is a deepwater port designed for unloading crude oil cargoes from deep-draft tankers. The LOOP Marine Terminal is located in open waters of the Gulf of Mexico approximately 29 kilometers (18 nautical miles) offshore from the State of Louisiana.

The port is owned and operated by LOOP LLC under licenses granted by the governments of the United States of America and the State of Louisiana. The laws of the United States govern the port in the same manner as if the port were an area of exclusive federal jurisdiction located within a state. The United States Coast Guard Sector New Orleans, through the Marine Safety Unit at Houma, Louisiana, has oversight authority over LOOP.
